From 8/1/2011:
This 1974 Dodge D800 is said to be one of six trucks built for Chrysler factory drag teams. The seller claims that this rig hauled cars for team drivers Bob Riffle, Gene Dunlop, the Fink Brothers, Arlen Vanke, Don Carlton & Ronnie Sox. It was returned to Chrysler in 1978 and then assigned to Butch Leal. It remained on an MSO until 1987 when it was sold by Chrysler to Bill Hancock of Arrow Racing. The box is 28 feet long and it is powered by a 413 V8. Find it here on eBay in Columbus, Ohio with a $9950 BIN. Special thanks to BaT reader Geoff A. for this submission!
The Mopar Directo Connection brand was a classic, and the California Flash shown below is just one of the cars that could have been hauled bu this truck. The seller includes photos of several of these trucks, but might have more records on which photos are of this actual truck.
The interior is all covered in wood paneling, with sloped ramps and some built-in storage. It would seem that 28 feet would allow for even more storage or seating space if it was renovated.
This truck obviously needs some work, but given what looks like a mostly solid starting point, it could likely be tailored to the wishes of the new owner and still made roadworthy for much less than the restored transporters we have seen.
