This 1969 Fiat 124 Coupe has been built to vintage SCCA F Production specs, and has been racing as such for at least nine years. It looks to be a very clean build, certainly better than we would expect at this price point. These are remarkably simple cars, but still quite quick, meaning this should be a great first race car for the budding vintage enthusiast. Find it here on eBay in Pahrump, Nevada with bidding opening at $5k and no higher reserve.

The 124 Coupe is a cleanly styled 2-door, and we have featured a few in racing trim. The photo above looks like this one might have been running with SOVREN at Kent. This particular car looks to have been well cared for, though the driver’s door seems misaligned, possibly due to a shunt. The seller notes that two sets of the handsome and rare Cromadora magnesium wheels are included. We’d space the wheels wider or go with some different alloys, and then swap the flag headlight covers for blue and lose the modern Fiat graphics.

Inside, the look is quite Spartan, with everything awash in bright blue. One thing the next buyer should budget for are some rollcage upgrades, as there is no side impact protection on the passenger side of the car, and only a single bar on the driver’s side. This is typically acceptable in vintage racing, where the chances of a high-speed impact are relatively low, but why take the risk?

Underhood lies the superb Fiat twincam four, here in 1608cc guise from a later-model 124. With the widely-splayed cam towers, equal-length header, and shiny Weber air cleaners, this is a great looking powerplant. Also typically a great sounding engine, too, as these often can rev quite high.

Despite wearing FP class lettering, this Fiat will never be competitive in modern SCCA Production racing, where the state of the art are Miatas and Integras putting around 200hp to the ground through fat slick tires. No, this coupe will remain well placed in vintage events, where the robust mechanicals and clean presentation will go far.
