This 1967 Morris Minor 1000 two door saloon (chassis M / A2S5 D 1200903 M) is described as a clean, sorted, fully functional and entirely rust free example that is driven at least once weekly, weather and road conditions permitting. Its seller is a big fan of vintage British cars, and despite owning dozens of others starting in the mid-sixties, he counts this particular one as his standout favorite. Registered in Glasgow in 1994, the car was imported by a US-based commercial airline pilot whose routes regularly took him to the UK and who spent a long time hunting for the right example. It is now available in suburban Chicago, Illinois for $8,100.
The older non-metallic paint shows nice even color and the seller notes that it needs frequent waxing in order to avoid dulling. Trim, glass and brightwork is all intact and in good condition, and we like that the car retains its perio black UK number plates. Cream wheels with correct hubcaps complement the wine colored exterior well, and overall the car presents as a sharp little driver with above average cosmetics.
Red leather and carpets contrast just enough with the burgundy, body colored metal dash, and though electrics are minimal all are said to be 100% sorted and functional. The outsized speedo beneath a peaked nacelle is the cabin’s centerpiece–both from a visual and placement perspective—and the neat row of toggle switches beneath underscore the little car’s overt simplicity.
The seller describes the driving experience as very pleasant and relaxing, but with gearing restricting speed to 17.6 MPH per 1,000 RPM it’s said to be happiest cruising at a comfortable 55-60. A 1098 cc powered car, it’s said to start easily by switch or by included starter handle, and documentation includes original factory literature, owner’s manual, and Haynes shop book. Maintenance like fluid changes and brake shoe replacements have been performed as necessary, but the seller notes that repair-wise “it hasn’t needed a thing and I would drive it with total confidence.”
