This 1970 Opel GT is described as restored with slightly over 60k miles. Further said to have been meticulously maintained by a long-time restorer, a spare parts car is included free of charge. An automatic-equipped car, it’s said to need a new batter and tires and modifications are claimed limited to an electric fuel pump. Find it here on Craigslist in Dennis, Massachusetts for $5,200. Special thanks to BaT reader Virginia T. for this submission.

This 1969 Mercedes Benz 300SEL 6.3 was originally owned by Howard Hughes’ Hughes Productions as confirmed by included registration paperwork. Now in Europe and in need of restoration, little additional information is provided. Find it here on eBay near Stuttgart, Germany with a $38,500 BIN. Special thanks to BaT reader David K. for this submission.

Howard Hughes Owned: Mercedes Benz 300SEL 6.3

After Hughes 1976 passing the car was purchased by Daniel Selznick, son of Gone with the Wind producer David. Said to have remained rust-free during its 40 years in California, it’s unclear whether this still applies.

Howard Hughes Owned: Mercedes Benz 300SEL 6.3

Here’s a closeup of what sounds to be the car’s first registration card clearly showing Hughes Productions as the registered owner.

Howard Hughes Owned: Mercedes Benz 300SEL 6.3

Like the rest of the car, the interior looks complete but a bit tired and in need of some love. This silver over maroon color combination is excellent.

Howard Hughes Owned: Mercedes Benz 300SEL 6.3

We’re not usually impressed by celebrity ownership, but Hughes is on another level. It’s not clear whether he ever actually drove the car, but it’s still a cool piece of history.

One of Seven Belgians: 1953 Panhard Junior Roadster Project

$

0

This 1953 Panhard Junior is described as one of seven Belgian-built cars, and though also 0said to be free of rust with an easy starting air-cooled flat twin, both brake master and slave cylinders need to be rebuilt. The car has a definite patina, but it’s attractive in an old hot rod kind of way and sale includes the original windshield frame, glass, soft top and side screens–the latter of which aren’t useable. Find it here on Car and Classic somewhere in Lancashire, England for 14,500 GBP (~$22,400 today). Special thanks to BaT reader Kyle K. for this submission.

1963 Datsun 1200 Station Wagon

This 1963 Datsun 1200 wagon has been restored to what looks like a decent driver standard and is said to retain its original 60 horse four cylinder. Little else is detailed, but older Baja California border plates are notable–we’re guessing the car came from Tijuana or nearby, which also helps explains the current address. Find it here on Craigslist in San Ysidro, California for $6k.

1963 Datsun Bluebird Station Wagon

This rear three quarter view gives an almost VW Type 3 vibe thanks to slightly similar tails and momentarily hubcap-less steelies. This color scheme seems a bit deluxe to be OEM correct, but many early Japanese imports were fitted with more upmarket trim prior to export.

1963 Datsun Bluebird Station Wagon

The interior features matching two tone vinyl upholstery on both doors and seats. This front seat shot is joined by photos showing both the rear bench as well as the trunk, the latter of which looks to retain an OEM spare and jack underneath a carpeted plywood sub floor.

1963 Datsun Bluebird Station Wagon

Though more scarce than later 510’s, we’ve seen a market influx of 1200 variants (including sedans and pick-ups) over the past years, seemingly in accordance with the rising profile of the J-tin collecting movement. This one looks ready for casual, occasional driving or showing.

Early Two Liter: 1967 Fiat Dino

This 1967 Fiat Dino (chassis 135AC0000738) was purchased new by a US serviceman in Europe, and is said by the previous owner to have received a thorough mechanical restoration. While it does show its age in places, the seller states that it runs, shifts, and drives very well. Find it here on eBay in Berlin, Connecticut with reserve met at $31k.

1967 Fiat Dino

The seller adds that the car was stripped and given a red respray, during which time any body rot was seen to. We wonder whether or not red was the car’s original color however, and it’s difficult to ascertain the quality of paint from the pictures given. A handful of underbody shots are provided as well.

1967 Fiat Dino

The car still sports its original interior, and while its layout is still classically pleasing it does have a few issues. The upholstery has suffered a few tears and splits, and the headliner looks to be equally dingy. The whole cabin could benefit from a thorough cleaning.

1967 Fiat Dino

The quad cam Ferrari V6 is always a welcome sight, and is perhaps the car’s greatest selling point. With a trunk full of spares, it is said to be well-sorted, and certainty looks cleaner than the interior. The odometer currently sits at 88,336 km.

1967 Fiat Dino

Here’s the ID plate, which includes the its chassis and engine numbers.

1967 Fiat Dino

Though a little scruffy in places, the car looks to be a perfectly usable example. Bertone lines and Ferrari power has always made for an appealing package, and we would love to set this one aesthetically straight while also being able to drive it whenever possible.

Aqua on Green: 1968 Fiat 125 Sedan

$

This 1968 Fiat 125 is a good-looking example of a once-common model now rarely seen in the US. The seller and claimed second owner states that it is “the perfect car for any young man or woman,” and while some mechanical aptitude and appreciation for vintage machinery may be necessary, this does look to be a fine starter classic. Find it here on eBay in Franklin, Tennessee with an unmet $6,900 opening bid and additional reserve.

334-465x620

We like the aqua shade of blue which freshens up its slab-sided styling. This color scheme extends into the interior, which looks reasonably tidy. We don’t see any issues in the upholstery or dash, though the carpet could use a thorough cleaning–original looking mats are nice to have.

1967 Fiat 125 Sedan

Longer than a 124 but using the same running gear, Fiat 125’s boast good mechanical parts availability relative to their rarity. The 1608cc Lampredi twin cam is said to run beautifully, and looks to have been well-kept. The odometer currently shows 86,628 km, or about 54k miles.

1967 Fiat 125 Sedan

Strangely, we seem to come across far more Polski-Fiat 125s than we do original Italian models, so we are glad to see one which has survived as well as this one has. Simply maintaining an odd workaday car such as this one can be a lot of fun in itself.

Utility Coachwork: 1984 Rolls Royce Silver Spirit

This 1984 Rolls Royce Silver Spirit ute conversion is sold with no information apart from a few photos and seller contact info. The car does look well cared for however, and though this isn’t the first Rolls pick-up we’ve seen it does appear to be more nicely finished than most of the others. Find it here on Car and Classic in Glasgow, Scotland for 14,500 GBP (~$22,400 today). Special thanks to BaT reader Luke B. for this submission.

Utility Coachwork: 1984 Rolls Royce Silver Spirit

The well-integrated bed cover looks a lot like a long trunk lid, which in combination with a sloping rear window and C-pillars helps explain the listings “coupe/pick-up” title. Which exactly is it?

Utility Coachwork: 1984 Rolls Royce Silver Spirit

The interior is traditional Rolls with tidy Connolly leather, Wilton wool and lots of wood veneer. No muddy work boots allowed.

Utility Coachwork: 1984 Rolls Royce Silver Spirit

Probably too nice to haul lumber, fertilizer or lawnmowers, maybe the long trunk is better suited to croquet sets and very large wicker picnic baskets?

BaT Auction: 40 Years Owned 1960 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint

$

0

This 1960 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint is an original black-plate California car that has been with the seller for 40 years. This is an early 101-series example finished in its original black that had extensive work completed by the prestigious Kevin Kay Restorations in 2011 detailed below including a new 5-speed transmission and new exhaust. It was sold new in September of 1960 in San Francisco, and the seller has driven it around 55k miles during his ownership. It was repainted in 1979 and given a replacement 1300cc engine from another Sprint at that same time. The car is a touch quicker than stock thanks to 1750 cams, 4.55 rear end and electronic ignition, the seller saying “There’s been some other fiddling over the years, but no swapping out for 2 liter or such blasphemy.”

1960 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint

The repaint in the 1980s was a thorough job using Imron that the seller says has proven durable due in part to warm garages and rare exposure to inclement weather. The body is sound but does exhibit a quarter-sized spot of rust below the trunk (see gallery) and a small dent on the passenger side. There was rust starting to form near the battery so the entire trunk floor was professionally replaced – this area can be seen in the gallery as well.

Screen shot 2015-07-02 at 1.55.32 PM

Chrome and trim are complete and look nice, with cool touches like the chrome airplane shaped trunk trim that was standard on 750-series cars and present on only some of these early 101 cars. 1960 was a transition year for Sprints and Spiders as Alfa Romeo phased in the new 101 series starting in mid-1959. This car sits on stock 15″ wheels with Vredestein Sprint Classic tires.

1960 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint-3

The interior looks very clean with many original details like correct door panels that are often incorrectly reproduced on lesser examples. The original interior color was gray, and over the years the seller says that freshening over the years has included black leather seats, a new headliner, and new carpets. Gauges are clear and function properly with some mild yellowing that is typical. The oil temp gauge does not work.

Screen shot 2015-07-02 at 1.48.48 PM

In 2011 the car received a major mechanical refresh and rust repair by Kevin Kay Restorations in Redding, CA. The rusty trunk floor was cut out, new stiffening ribs fabricated, new battery tray and underpanel installed and sprayed with SKS. The fuel tank was removed, flushed and cleaned inside and out, and a new sending unit was fitted. Kevin inspected the rockers at this time and did not recommend that any work was needed. The seller does note that the windshield has a wiper scratch on the driver side, and that Classic Alfa in the UK has replacements for $360.

1960 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint-4

The 5-speed transmission gearset was lightened by Tom Sahines and Kevin Kay fitted a new clutch and surfaced and balanced the flywheel/pressure plate. The car received a new carrier bearing to the driveshaft, new exhaust system, Solex carb rebuild, new distributor cap and wires, and new steering column seal.

Screen shot 2015-07-02 at 2.03.08 PM

Engine #00102 27878 replaced the original unit when fitted in the 1980s and has around 37k miles since. The seller has performed routine fluid changes and we remember him driving the car on the 2015 New Year’s Day Anti-Football drive. The rear end is a 4.55 which the seller says is simply a beautiful casting item. Other small drivability upgrades have been fitted like Konis all around, a larger anti-roll bar in front and triangulated axle gussets/stiffeners in the rear. The sale includes the original warranty card, receipts for all recent work and a large history file from the seller’s 40 years with the car. This looks like an ideal Sprint with just the right mix of originality and upgrades to make it a fun and reliable driver.

1972 Datsun 240Z 5-Speed

$

0

This 1972 Datsun 240Z (chassis HLS30-100026) is a clean example that has been upgraded with a 2.8L engine and 5-speed transmission. The butterscotch paint is freshly applied and likely not the factory color based on clues in the engine bay, but the seller says that that it is a good driver. We like the looks and modifications, and the fact that the bids will stay reasonable because this isn’t the kind of stock Z that attracts the investment speculators. Find it here on eBay in Corona, California.

1972 Datsun 240Z

We like the Panasport wheel upgrade but the seller says that the fronts are wide enough to limit the turning circle, especially when reversing. No bumper over-riders or body side trim means this car has a very clean look, and it has not been excessively lowered.

1972 Datsun 240Z

The seller is proud of the white interior but we would prefer black. The 4-spoke steering wheel is aftermarket and well chosen.

1972 Datsun 240Z

The engine bay shows some blue paint around the hood latch and the black inner fenders are always a clue that the color has been changed. The twin carbs look stock but have aftermarket round air filters, and the exhaust has been coated. Other than the color change, this looks like a very nice and tidy engine bay. We’d consider some disassembly and having it painted to match the exterior.

1972 240Z Datsun Engine

This is a good looking driver-quality example of a model that is getting pricey in stock form. It is a perfect event car or first-time classic for someone who has always wanted one. It will be interesting to watch the bidding.

BaT Auction: 1993 Volvo 940 Wagon V8 5-speed

$

0

This 1993 Volvo 940 wagon was fitted with a fuel-injected Ford 302 and matching 5-speed from a Fox body Mustang by its previous owner. The seller has driven the car daily for three years during which time he has dialed it in for reliability, and after a large investment of time and money the car is now said to be well sorted with working A/C and subtle suspension upgrades and chassis bracing detailed below. The BorgWarner T-5 benefits from a recently replaced clutch and shifts smoothly, and the seller says the car is very fun to drive and the sale means “the citizens of Northfield, Minnesota are going to be pleased that I am not vrooming this beast sideways in their fair city any more.” He says the new owner can be confident driving this car long distances, and it has served him well as a dependable sleeper hot rod.

1994 Volvo 940 V8 Rear

When first purchased, the car had 5.0 fender badges and a loud, poorly engineered exhaust. The seller has since deleted all visual hints and has also paid for a professionally designed and built custom exhaust with a discreet twin pipe finish. Cosmetics are presentable, the seller pointing to a yellowing headlight and a good sized scratch on the hood as the two biggest flaws. Wheels are 940 Turbo items wrapped in fresh Yokohama S.Drive tires, and sale also includes a set of Continental winter rubber mounted on standard 940 multi-spokes.

19085874132_51f3ee8904_k

Driver seat leather is cracked and aging but overall the interior is great for a driver with clean carpets throughout including in the large cargo area. An uncracked dash and good door panels are also notable in the pics, and all lights, gauges, switches, and most accessories including the aftermarket Bluetooth/USB equipped head unit are working.

1994 Volvo 940 V8 Luggage Compartment

The seller had the A/C serviced in preparation for sale and says it blows cold without issue. The sunroof had been leaky so the seller had the drains blown out and it proved water tight after a recent drive through the car wash.

1994 Volvo 940 V8 Engine

Chassis mileage is just below 250k, and the previous owner claimed that the swapped V8 had approximately 150k when installed. Converted to MAF sensing, it’s said to start easily even in the middle of frigid Midwestern winters, the seller further claiming that it idles smoothly and runs very well with no undue smoke, noises, or overheating issues. The BorgWarner T-5 benefits from a replaced clutch and shifts smoothly with good synchros and no gear whine, and the suspension has been upgraded with an adjustable Panhard bar, chassis bracing, and lowering springs from Volvo specialist IPD.

BaT Auction: 10k-Mile 2005 Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG

$
0
0

This 2005 Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG has under 10k original miles and is still like new according to the seller. It is powered by the factory AMG-tuned twin-turbo 6.0 liter V12 good for 604 horsepower and a beastly 738 pound feet of torque. Sporting all the luxury features of Mercedes’ top line roadster, the SL65 adds all the special AMG performance and styling cues that set this apart from your standard SL500. The seller says this example is pristine and well-optioned, costing around $200k when new. Car and Driver’s 2005 road test praised the performance of the car and pointed to a lack of adequate traction as it’s biggest “problem.” This one has never been hit and comes with a clean Carfax report viewable below.

2005 Mercedes Benz SL65 AMG-3

The seller is an enthusiast and collector with a wide range of taste in cars who has sold many cars via BaT Auctions. This is one of the more modern cars in his collection, though he says the combination of supercar performance and Mercedes luxury are hard to beat. Punch the gas and the rear tires are easily overwhelmed, not surprising as the SL65 offers more torque than a Ferrari Enzo or Porsche Carrera GT. This one is all original and has never had any paintwork.

2005 Mercedes Benz SL65 AMG INT

The car is optioned with black Nappa leather interior, retractable hardtop with panorama roof, alcantara headliner, and Parktronic. Cosmetic AMG upgrades include a stylish body kit with unique front valence and larger 2-piece 19″ AMG wheels. The seller says the interior is in excellent condition and has always been owned by non-smokers. It was last serviced in September 2014.

2005 Mercedes Benz SL65 AMG ENG

The seller says this feels like a true GT car on the road, though lots of power and factory-equipped LSD can provide a more sporting driving experience in the right hands. A detailed photo gallery with many lift shots showcases the car’s condition, and this is as close as you’ll get to an SLR for a fraction of the cost.

BaT Auction: 1954 Kaiser Manhattan Supercharged Project

$
0
0

This 1954 Kaiser Manhattan is a McCulloch supercharged model that is believed to have lived in California from new. It has been with the seller for over 30 years, who has sold a few projects from his collection on BaT Auctions including the Lamborghini Espada and Fiat Multipla. The paint and interior are serviceable and the seller says there is some rust in the floorboards but nothing structural as far as he can tell. The 226 cubic inch Continental-designed L-head six-cylinder engine is said to turn freely, and when paired with the McCulloch blower was good for around 140HP over the base model output of 118HP. The sale includes a large spares package.

KaiserManhattan54 - 14

The body is straight and paint and chrome bits are in decent shape. The seller says front and rear bumpers need re-chroming and the rear bumper was removed for this purpose. The new owner could certainly tend to the drivetrain and brakes and drive it as-is, or restore it more fully with new paint and chrome. The original California black plate suggests that it was issued in the mid-1960s after the yellow plates were discontinued.

1954 Kaiser Manhattan int

The car was stored indoors for much of its life and the interior has retained many of its original details. Note the full upholstered dash with good instrumentation, clean steering wheel, and original radio and clock. Seats covers are discolored but appear free of tears. Carpet and door panels look clean and all glass is intact.

Screen shot 2015-07-01 at 2.50.49 PM

The seller says the engine turns freely though it has not been started in many years. The Manhattan was the top-of-the-line model for Kaiser in 1954, and the company had been looking for a more powerful engine to offer. After Oldsmobile declined to sell them their Rocket 88, Kaiser struck a deal with McCulloch (renamed Paxton in 1956) to use their VS57 supercharger on the venerable L-head six. This provided an almost 20% power bump from stock, and at the time it was the only production car with a factory equipped blower. Around 1200 Manhattans were produced in 1954.

IMG_3079

Many spare parts and trim are included and viewable below. The seller also once had a ’55 Manhattan and many spares for both cars have been accumulated over the years. The odometer shows 19K miles and the seller says the documentation file – title, non op’s, etc. neither verify or contradict the mileage.

South American 356C Cab Replica: 1986 Envemo

$

This 1986 Envemo Super 90 Cabriolet is an unusual 356C replica that was built on a shortened VW Brasilia chassis. This one is said to have been stored for 20 years but is now back in driving shape. This one would be a real head scratcher for the 356 experts in the USA, as most fiberglass replicas are of Speedsters and more recently A coupes. Find it here on eBay in Sao Paulo, Brasil for $22k USD and no higher reserve. Special thanks to BaT reader Geoff A. for this submission.

1986 Envemo Porsche Replica 356C Cabrio

The top material looks shiny and cheap, but the shape of the fiberglass looks reasonable close to the original.  The rear ride height needs to be reduced to kick the swing axles to more negative camber. We suspect that the bumpers are also fiberglass.

South American 356B Cab Replica: 1986 Envemo

The interior is where most replicas can be easily found to have never seen Stuttgart. This one has a passable shifter but the seats look more Brasilia than 356. A stock 356 steering wheel would help here.

Complete Restoration Project: One Owner 1962 Ghia 1500 GT

$

0

This 1962 Ghia 1500 GT is being offered on behalf of the original owner and is said to have been in running order as recently as a year ago. Though complete, the car does need work including rust repair, but overall appears to be a good candidate for restoration. Find it here on Craigslist in San Francisco, California for $15k. Special thanks to BaT reader Jon C. for this submission.

1962 FIAT GHIA 1500 GT

Weatherstripping is tired, brightwork dull, and in addition to moderate rust the car also wears several dings and dents. A side marker is lens is missing as well, but otherwise the car appears to be complete including good glass, both bumpers and so on.

1962 FIAT GHIA 1500 GT

The interior will require a good amount of work including a new dash top, carpets and more, however the driver’s door card shown missing in photos is included along with what are referred to as “dash panels”.

1962 FIAT GHIA 1500 GT

An engine shot is included as well, but it’s vertically oriented and wouldn’t fit here. Though in need of a new battery and ignition key, the seller says it did run last year and seems to suggest that with these items replaced it may run again. Additionally, suspension, steering, brakes and lights are all said to be in good working order.

1962 FIAT GHIA 1500 GT

We’ve seen a small handful of these little coupes in person and are always struck by their elegance. Though in need of a lot of work, it’s hard to think of another limited production, 60’s Italian coachbuilt special available for similar cash.

$785 Project: 1967 Datsun 411 Wagon

$

0

This 1967 Datsun 411 station wagon (chassis PL411806293) is said to be mostly free of rust and appears to be very restorable. The seller adds that its windshield is in excellent condition, and though its possible that roll down side glass is missing the rest of the panes look to be in good shape as well. Find it here on eBay in Lawndale, California with a $785 BIN and a correct J13 engine and 4-speed transmission available for an additional $450.

$785: 1967 Datsun 411 Wagon Project

The missing hood and grille might be difficult to replace, however the interior does show what looks like some extra trim on the floor. The car has a decent sized dent on the right rear corner as well as a few other dings, but otherwise looks surprisingly good for the low asking price. Note also that most trim including badging appears complete.

$785: 1967 Datsun 411 Wagon Project

Front seats are missing, however the rear bench does appear to be intact. The dash looks pretty good, however an extra pad is seen lying on the floor in this shot.

$785: 1967 Datsun 411 Wagon Project

Here’s the naked engine bay. No word on whether the optionally available 1.3 liter four is this car’s original motor, but it is of the correct J13 type. Additionally, the seller provides no info on its running condition or that of the matching 4-speed.

$785: 1967 Datsun 411 Wagon Project

We’d like to see it returned to stock, but a tasteful SR20-powered restomod might be pretty cool too. Straightened and resprayed the same white, functionally lowered over matte black Watanabes with some Datsun Roadster seats in front sounds like a good plan B.

Two Strokes Three Wheels: 1951 Goliath GD750

$

0

This 1951 Gioliath GD750 (chassis 21607) is incorrectly listed as a GP700, a model name that belonged to a more conventional series of Goliath cars built around the same time. Said to be one of only about 10 surviving from 36,000 made, the seller describes it as totally original but it does appear to have been restored. Find it here on eBay in Artigas, Uruguay with no reserve beyond an unmet $8k USD starting bid.

Goliath GP700 GP

It’s an interesting looking little truck, and we especially like what appears to be very good quality wood work on the custom bed. Note that only the left side has a door handle. the same side which also features the front wheel’s suspension.

Goliath GP700 GP

Unfortunately no engine shots are provided, however power should come from a 700cc two stroke vertical twin similar to that used in other Borgward products.

Goliath GP700 GP

The interior looks to be in decent shape, and the distinct steering wheel may be original. Looks like the seller has a thing for small, odd vehicles.

Unusual Street-Spec: 1963 Elva Courier Mk3

7/8/2015 Update: Over four years later, this Elva is once again for sale, this time in the Northeast. Condition looks largely the same, with different air filters being the only change we can spot in the photos. This is still the only Courier we have ever featured on spoke wheels, and we like the street aesthetic given their usual track look. FInd it here on Craigslist in Main Line, Pennsylvania for $34,995. Special thanks to BaT commenter northwestnick for this update!

From 4/13/2011:

The vast majority of these Elva Couriers were taken straight to the racetrack, so it is rare to come across one like this that is in full road configuration. This 1963 model has the MGA MKII 1622cc engine and corresponding transmission, but the seller states that it is 400 lbs lighter than an MGA. It is no wonder they were raced with such success. Find this one here on eBay in Covington, Louisiana. Special thanks to BaT reader Richard M. for this submission!

1963 Elva Courier Mk3 MG MGA Roadster BRG Green Wire Wheels For Sale Front

British Racing Green and painted wires suit this car perfectly, and the sale includes the fiberglass bumperettes but the seller removed them for this cleaner look. The tonneau is a nice touch but no top is mentioned, and that is fine by us.

1963 Elva Courier Mk3 MG MGA Roadster BRG Green Wire Wheels For Sale Rear

The interior features new leather seat covers that were made from the original vinyl patterns. The steering wheel and dash layout are pleasing from the driver seat and the sellers says that the speedometer is the only dial not functioning but a replacement speedo cable is included.

1963 Elva Courier Mk3 MG MGA Roadster BRG Green Wire Wheels For Sale Interior

The engine looks tidy but not perfect, and we can’t tell whether the rest of the engine compartment is matte gray or a blue color that might be the original exterior color. We’d add some proper filters for the kind of dusty summer rallies we’d have planned for the car.

1963 Elva Courier Mk3 MG MGA Roadster BRG Green Wire Wheels For Sale Engine

This is a great looking and rare british roadster that is equally at home running errands or in the race paddock. If you want a car that splits the difference between a Lotus and an MG, this might be the one for you.

This 1963 Plymouth Sport Fury (chassis 3431226236) is a longtime southwest car that wears an older restoration completed by a PO, the seller adding that its straight with no known rust issues. Powered by a correct 361ci big block V8 and Torqueflite push-button automatic trans, the car is said to run and drive well and other than air conditioning everything is in working order. Lightly upgraded since the seller’s purchase, the car appears in excellent condition and is said to have 65k actual miles. Find it here on eBay in Morrow, Ohio with a $25k BIN. Special thanks to BaT reader Scott S. for this submission.

Shown from several angles with good lighting, black paint presents well with only a few scratches evident around the hood. Body panels are in equally good shape with nice gaps and all trim and bumpers have a proper shine. Magnum 500’s may be a few years off but they look at home here, especially with red-line tires which the interior inserts complement nicely.

In addition to restoring the dash and gauges, the seller has reupholstered the interior with new, custom reproduction seat covers and door cards by Legendary–triple black would be ideal but we could live with the red inserts for a while. Carpets also appear new as well, and the convertible top components have been replaced though it sounds like the top is a bit older, likely from the previous restoration.

Mechanical work include a new steering box, exhaust, and re-cored radiator, and though the air conditioning isn’t functioning all of its parts are in place. Aside from the displacement and transmission, further details aren’t provided and whether the engine is the matching numbers unit isn’t mentioned.

As the seller says, the car isn’t perfect and could be improved upon with working A/C and more detailing under the hood. It’s also modestly priced according to Hagerty, with a good condition example in this spec quoted as being worth just over $40k.

This 1968 Citroen ID19 (chassis 3769623) is described as largely complete which photos seem to support. A fixed-headlight US delivery model, problems include a rusted out trunk and seized engine, but provided there’s no extensive hidden rust this one might still make a reasonably good restoration candidate. Find it here on eBay in Fairfield, California with no reserve beyond an unmet $2,500 starting bid.

The picture above shows the cool trunk lid articulation as well as some rust on this panel which the seller believes can be repaired. The car is sitting low, but not as close to the ground as we’d expect for a car whose oleopneumatic system hasn’t been cycled in a long time.

A conventional pedal operates the brakes rather than the rubber mushroom fitted to higher spec DS’s. Also note the column-shifted manual, as opposed to the clutchless, semi-automatic available elsewhere within the range. The back seats are shown in additional photos, and though apparently largely intact, upholstery and plastics are very sun baked and many pieces will require replacement.

Note the blue and yellow plates. The seller says either the engine or trans is seized, and though there’s a possibility that both are frozen we’d suspect the motor first. Sorting this car’s structural, electrical, cosmetic, mechanical and oleopneumatic issues will add up quickly, but might be worth the expense to save it from the crusher.
